Williams Chapel Church of the Living God, P.G.T.

Williams Chapel Church of the Living God, P.G.T., began in the home of Anthony Williams, Sr., in the Amewell Community of Crockett, Texas. Church services were held in his home until the spring of 1916 when Anthony Williams, Sr. donated a parcel of land for the new church building. The first minister of the church was Anthony Williams Sr.'s son-in-law, Elder W. M. Patterson of Houston, Texas. The first member of the church was Brother Jake Johnson and the first lady to unite with the church was Sister Iona King Johnson. Anthony Williams, Jr. became a deacon in 1916 and in 1919 became chairman of the deacon board until his death in 1977.

Years later another church building was built on the side of the road in Amewell Community. Services were held there until the church moved to the Post Oak Community in 1956. In the early 1980's Brother Jake B. Johnson and Brother John H. Johnson started construction of a new church home. During the construction services were held in the home of Sister Rodella Williams Johnson and Sister Mary Smith in the city of Crockett. The new church home was completed in 1986 and dedication services were held September 28, 1986, by Elder Franklin Smith of Houston, Texas.
